Kelowna Hockey Coaches Welton & Breitkreuz Launch Okanagan Impact

Kelowna Hockey Coaches Welton & Breitkreuz Launch Okanagan Impact.

Okanagan Impact has arrived to provide dedicated, high-quality hockey skills development for young players in the Okanagan Valley. Co-founded by experienced minor hockey coaches and Canadian Hockey League (CHL) alumni, Nathan Welton and Adam Breitkreuz, this new organization is focused on giving players the essential edge they need to succeed in their hockey journey.

Both Welton and Breitkreuz are respected coaches within Kelowna Minor Hockey and bring decades of proven hockey experience to this new organization. They recently coached together with the Kelowna Heat 2016 AA team this past Spring, a collaboration that highlighted the need for more consistent, high-level skills training locally.

Focused Development and Spring Hockey

Okanagan Impact’s offerings are two-fold:

  1. Skills Training: The organization began running focused skating and skills sessions for 2015, 2016, and 2017 birth years in September 2025. These sessions, held at Winfield Arena, will continue throughout the Winter, providing a crucial supplement to players’ regular minor hockey practices.

  2. Spring Hockey: To further support a greater development curve, Okanagan Impact will also feature a competitive invite-only Spring hockey team. The inaugural 2026 season will kick off with a 2016 birth year team, focused on player development and emphasis on team play. This team environment is designed to maximize growth by continuing to develop skills and skating, while also focusing on enhanced tactics and game situations outside of the regular season.

By combining consistent skill work with a dedicated Spring program, Okanagan Impact aims to ensure that hockey players in the Okanagan Valley have access to the resources needed to realize their full potential on and off the ice.
